Valentine Chessa is a founding partner of the international arbitration boutique, Mourre Chessa Le Lay - MCL Arbitration, based in Paris.
Valentine has some 20 years of experience practicing international arbitration in complex cross-border isputes in a wide range of industry sectors such as energy, construction, post M&A disputes, hospitality, real estate, telecommunications, aviation, distribution and international sales. She acts as counsel in arbitration cases under the main institutional rules and in ad hoc proceedings.
Her intervention areas encompass the pre and alternative arbitration phases (including negotiation, mediation, dispute boards, interim measures) as well as the postarbitration phases (including enforcement and set-aside of awards before French Courts as well as asset recovery).
She regularly sits as arbitrator (president, co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator and emergency arbitrator) in English, French and ltalian proceedings.
Prior to founding MCL Arbitration, Valentine was a Partner at a leading Franco-Italian law firm and worked at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, where she supervised hundreds of arbitration proceedings involving a broad variety of substantial as well as procedural legal issues from the request for arbitration to the scrutiny of arbitral awards.
Additionally, she serves as a reporter for France at the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, and is a faculty member for the Certificate in International Arbitration at Università degli Studi Roma Tre. She is also a member of the nomination commission of ICC Italy and she is one of the co-chairs of Arbit, the Italian forum for international arbitration practitioners.
